School Visits & Events

My school visits can be about picture books, illustration, animation, or the creative process (especially for older audiences such as college students).
In-Person School Visits
In-person presentations are typically 20 - 40 minutes long (depending on the age of the audience), and followed by a 15-minute Q&A. Up to 2 presentations at the same school on the same day.
The general format is as follows:
1. Introduction (My background and how I started writing and illustrating picture books)
2. Live read aloud of my latest book, or the book of teacher's choice
3. Why did I write/illustrate a particular book?
4. What is my writing and illustration process?
5. Book discussion (interactive)
I am happy to sign any books and take pictures after the Q&A.
I will show a PowerPoint presentation, so I will bring my own PC laptop, which needs an HDMI or USB-C connection. If it is more convenient, I can also put my presentation on a thumb drive to play on your equipment.
Equipment I will need for an in-person visit:
-Projector & screen
-Microphone if we are in a large space
-Art easel with a large drawing pad (only needed if I am speaking to a small group)
